Join us for an ‘event-full’ summer at TSG!
The past few months here at TSG have absolutely flown by, with the clocks changing, the arrival of late-night midweek shooting and some great spring events! We’ve enjoyed cooking demos, young guns sessions, our first demo day and competitions. So, what’s coming up as we move into summer here in North Yorkshire? Here’s a roundup of everything going on between now and September in our most ‘event-full’ summer yet!
Our June events
We’re putting the finishing touches on our high summer menu for the cafe, with some refreshed dishes and new options! Estate chef Tristan has spent lots of time refreshing the offering to add variety for our regular visitors and make sure we’ve got something for everyone visiting over the summer. We’ll unveil the new summer menu on Monday 1st of June, so make sure you keep an eye out and get your taste buds ready!
Ladies Friday Morning Shooting & Brunch: 12th of June
We’ve had a great response to our monthly Ladies shooting and brunch sessions, and the next one takes place on Friday 12th of June. If you haven’t been before, here’s a quick rundown of how it works!
As the name suggests, these sessions offer a fun mornings clay shooting followed by a tasty brunch in our clubhouse. These sessions are suitable for all levels of gun, from total novices and improvers to intermediate and advanced ladies. Meet at 9:30am to choose your brunch menu, meet your fellow guns and listen to the safety briefing, then head out for two hours of instruction in small groups.
After the shooting concludes it’s time for brunch in the clubhouse and a chance to get to know fellow guns better. Whether you’re on your own or with a small group of friends this is a fantastic way to get together and kick off the weekend.
Ladies brunch including 25 clays and cartridges costs £70 member and £75 for a non-member
Ladies brunch including 50 clays and cartridges costs £80 member and £85 for a non-member
50 Bird (and more) Competition: Wednesday 17th of June
If you love our 50-bird sporting competitions but love the idea of a challenge and a twist, the next event will be right up your street. Alongside our 50-bird sporting, we’re adding in a pigeon hide, a 410 stand, a rabbit stand, a driven game-style stand and a sim game pair that you need to hit with one shot. We can’t wait to see what you think, and we’re expecting a great turnout!
Bookings are being taken now so just drop Caroline an email to book your spot: caroline@thimblebyestate.com. And, because it’s a Wednesday, our cafe will be open until 8.30pm and offering our popular Shots & Supper Deal alongside the new summer menu so save room for supper!
Our July events
Ladies Friday Morning Shooting & Brunch: 10th of July
Another chance to join us for a summer’s morning of clay pigeon tuition with our instructors followed by a tasty brunch in the clubhouse. These sessions are open to all levels of lady guns, so even if you’ve never held a shotgun or it’s been a long time since you last did, we’d love to have you along!
Demo Day: Wednesday 15th of July
We’re already looking forward to our second demo day of the year, and it’s taking place on the 15th of July. Once again, we’ll welcome reps from the leading shotgun brands to bring their latest models for visitors to try on the ground. We’ll also have reps from Gamebore and Eley here to chat about their latest innovations and non-toxic loads, and the Zoli bus for on-site servicing and strips for Zoli owners.
As the Demo Day falls on a Wednesday, that means late night shooting and our Shots and Supper deal! For £30, or just £26 for TSG members, you can enjoy a main course from our Early Bird menu, a Peroni or soft drink and 50 clays, and excellent way to spend a summer evening on the ground. There’s no need to book, just turn up and enjoy.
BBQ Cookery Demonstration: Friday 24th of July
If you would love to learn how to prepare, marinate and cook meat, fish and veggies for a knockout BBQ, make sure you book a spot at our July cookery demo. Join us at 5pm and, after a welcome drink of Pimm’s or a garden mocktail, enjoy estate chef Tristan grilling up a storm with a range of mains, sides and salads that will elevate your summer BBQs.
Then, our guests will sit down and enjoy the fruits of his labour with a glass or two of wine. At the end of the evening, you’ll take home a goodie bag of ingredients and a recipe card so that you can put your new knowledge into practice.
Our August events
By the time the 1st of August rolls around we’ll be ready to launch our late summer menu, another refresh masterminded by chef Tristan. We’ll be leaning into seasonal ingredients and late summer flavours, so think harvest and the first hints of the evenings starting to draw in…
Ladies Friday Morning Shooting & Brunch: 7th of August
The August Ladies shooting and brunch comes along early in the month, and we hope lots of ladies will be able to join us! The format remains the same and we love seeing the same faces coming back and improving month-on-month and welcoming total newcomers. If you have any questions, then please drop us a line and we’ll get them answered for you.
Competition with a ‘Glorious Twelfth” theme: Wednesday 12th of August
Another 50-bird sporting challenge with a twist, we’re injecting a Glorious Twelfth theme into our August competition. Think quick and low ‘grouse’ and some challenging pairs to replicate the fast and furious moorland shooting that kicks back off in late summer. We know the grounds team will put together a course that’s fun and just the right level of challenging, so keep a close eye on our social media for more details in time.
Our September events
Ladies Friday Morning Shooting & Brunch: 11th of September
If you look forward to September and that ‘back to school’ feeling (or you’re genuinely counting down to the kids being back at school and getting some free time back) come along to our September ladies shooting session. The morning includes expert tuition in small groups, with 25 clays and cartridges for novices and 50 of each for our intermediate ladies. After that, you’ll enjoy brunch in the clubhouse and the chance to get to know your fellow guns a little better.
Sportrap competition: Friday 19th and Saturday 20th September
As autumn gets into full swing, we’ll be putting on a sportrap competition over two days – perfect if you can’t get to us during the week! Both days kick off at 1pm until closing, and you’ll shoot the course in squads of five.
If you’d like to book onto our July Cookery Demo or the monthly Ladies Friday Morning Shooting & Brunch, please email Jayne in the office on jayne@thimblebyestate.com to secure your spot.
