The Gun Room Edit: Blaser FBX Grand Luxe Acanthus

A New Generation of Blaser Engineering has arrived and this is certainly no ordinary example.

Blaser has long been known for exceptional engineering, and the FBX brings some of the brand’s latest thinking to the world of competition and sporting shotguns. Following the much-loved F3 introduced in 2003, and the F16, launched in 2016, the FBX represents the next step in Blaser’s over-and-under development, following its much-anticipated launch in 2025.

We’ve now welcomed a particularly special example into the Thimbleby Gunroom, the FBX Grand Luxe Acanthus. Mechanically, it benefits from everything that makes the FBX so interesting, while its exceptional engraving and specially selected stock and forend give it an altogether more luxurious character.

A Low-Profile, Highly Engineered Action

At the heart of the FBX is its monocoque action, designed and machined around a very low centre of gravity.

The enlarged action dimensions provide excellent stability, while the low-profile design contributes to the gun’s handling and recoil characteristics. For the serious shooter, this combination is important, a gun needs to feel stable and controlled without becoming cumbersome.

The FBX also features a fully detachable trigger group, giving the shooter another level of practicality and flexibility. It makes maintenance straightforward and offers additional convenience and security when travelling with the gun.

Balance Tuned to You

One of the most interesting features of the FBX is its innovative weighting system.

Rather than simply adding weight towards the muzzle, the FBX allows barrel weighting to be adjusted within the forend, keeping the weight in line with the gun. This means the shooter can fine-tune the swing characteristics and overall feel to suit their individual preference.

Combined with the stock weighting system, there is an impressive degree of adjustment available.

For a serious shooter, that ability to personalise the balance of the gun to this level can make a significant difference. Whether you prefer a more deliberate swing or something faster and more responsive, the FBX gives you the opportunity to find the balance that works for you.

New Barrel and Choke Technology

The FBX’s barrels have also benefited from considerable research and development.

Its new choking system uses thin-wall extended chokes, designed to provide the advantages of extended choke technology without unnecessarily adding weight at the muzzle. This helps preserve the handling and balance characteristics of the gun.

The new bore dimensions and forcing cones have also been developed with pattern performance and recoil characteristics in mind, resulting in a barrel system designed to deliver excellent, consistent patterns while maintaining impressive comfort when shooting.

Modern Looks, Classic Quality

The standard FBX brings a distinctly contemporary appearance with its Cerakote matt black finish.

It is a particularly striking combination when paired with high-grade walnut, giving the gun a modern, purposeful appearance while retaining the traditional appeal of a beautifully figured wooden stock and forend.

The Grand Luxe Acanthus – A Particularly Rare Left-Handed FBX Too!

The recent arrival of the Grand Luxe Acanthus takes the FBX into a different league aesthetically.

Mechanically, it retains the same FBX platform, but the receiver is adorned with stunning deep Acanthus-style engraving, making use of every available area of the action.  The stunning engraving was created by Blaser master engraver Ralph Salzmann and has then been transferred to the gun in life by state-of-the-art laser engraving technology.

For the left-handed shooter, this particular FBX has something that makes it especially interesting.

This is not simply an FBX fitted with a left-handed stock. Our Grand Luxe Acanthus is a fully left-handed configuration, featuring both a dedicated left-handed stock and a left-handed opening top lever.

It is also an exceptionally difficult specification to find. This example is one of only a very small number of left-handed FBX guns currently available in the UK, making it a particularly interesting proposition for the serious left-handed shooter looking for something genuinely special.

For a left-handed shooter looking for a premium FBX, this is a very unusual opportunity.

Ever wondered how the FBX shoots? We have a permanent demo gun here at Thimbleby Shooting Ground so that you can experience its responsive handling, smooth action and minimal recoil for yourself.
